Project Information:

SVHA National Energy Action Plan (Revoked) was an industrial energy efficiency project operated by St Vincent's Health Australia Ltd. Based on the registered coordinates, the project covered facilities including St Vincent's Private Hospital in Toowoomba (located approximately 125km west of Brisbane) and St Vincent's Care Services support office in Bowen Hills, Brisbane. The project was registered in June 2016 and subsequently revoked in April 2019.

The project utilized the "Industrial Electricity and Fuel Efficiency" methodology, which credits emissions reductions achieved by upgrading equipment to reduce electricity consumption. Standard requirements for this method involve retrofitting or replacing energy-intensive equipment, such as HVAC systems, lighting, and refrigeration, with more efficient alternatives. This specific project was part of St Vincent's broader "National Energy Action Program" (NEAP), a major sustainability initiative launched around 2017. The NEAP aimed to reduce the organization's energy use by 35-40% through activities like the largest commercial solar rollout of its time (2.7MW across 16 sites), replacing 40,000 lights with LEDs, and installing wireless energy monitoring systems.

Regionally, the project sites differ in environmental context. The Toowoomba site is situated in the Darling Downs, a region renowned for agriculture, grazing, and cropping, with a temperate highland climate and rich volcanic soils. In contrast, the Bowen Hills site is located in the subtropical urban center of Brisbane. The project was revoked voluntarily under section 30 of the CFI Rule in 2019, suggesting the proponent may have opted to proceed with the energy upgrades for their operational savings without maintaining the administrative requirements of the carbon credit scheme.
