DAC-2015-04 (Revoked)

Project Information:

DAC-2015-04 (Revoked) was a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located in the remote Mulga Lands of South West Queensland, approximately 100km northwest of the township of Bollon. Registered in September 2015, the project covered a significant expanse of 24,840 hectares. The project was voluntarily revoked in March 2018 under section 30 of the CFI Rule, a provision typically used when a proponent requests to withdraw a project, often to transition to a different methodology or due to commercial changes.

The project area is situated within the Shire of Balonne, a region predominantly defined by sheep and cattle grazing on large pastoral stations. The environment is classified as semi-arid, characterized by hot summers and mild winters, with an average annual rainfall of approximately 460mm. The soils in this vicinity are typically deep red earths (kandosols) and sandy loams, supporting vegetation dominated by Mulga (Acacia aneura) and Poplar Box woodlands.

Operating under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) (Native Forest from Managed Regrowth) Methodology Determination 2013, the project aimed to regenerate native vegetation on land that had previously been cleared for pastoral use. The primary activity involved ceasing mechanical or chemical suppression of regrowth, allowing rootstock and lignotubers to regenerate into forest. The proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd, was a prominent Queensland-based carbon aggregator founded by Dominic Devine, which was subsequently acquired by GreenCollar in 2021.
