DAC-2015-19 (Revoked)

Project Information:

DAC-2015-19 (Revoked) was a carbon sequestration project located approximately 20km south of the small township of Eulo and 80km west of the service centre of Cunnamulla in South West Queensland. Registered in September 2015, the project covered an area of 3,816 hectares within the Paroo Shire. The project operated for nearly six years before being voluntarily revoked in August 2021.

The project region is situated within the Mulga Lands bioregion, an area heavily utilized for grazing sheep, cattle, and goats. The environment is characterized by a semi-arid climate with irregular rainfall, supporting vegetation dominated by Mulga (Acacia aneura) and other woody species. The soils in this specific vicinity of Eulo are typically deep red earths, sandy loams, and clay alluvia, often associated with "hardpan" landscapes that support native scrub regeneration when grazing pressure is managed.

The project operated under the Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) methodology. This method requires landholders to cease mechanical or chemical clearing of native vegetation to allow regrowth to mature into a permanent forest. To be eligible, the land must have previously been cleared for pastoral use but retain the potential to reach "forest cover" status (defined as trees reaching 2 meters in height with at least 20% canopy cover). The carbon abatement is calculated using the Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM).

A notable aspect of this project is its proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd (DAC). In July 2021, just one month prior to this project's revocation, DAC was acquired by GreenCollar, Australia's largest environmental markets investor. It is highly likely the revocation under Section 30 of the CFI Rule (which indicates a voluntary revocation by the proponent) was an administrative step following this corporate consolidation, potentially to transition the land to a different methodology or portfolio structure.
