Project Information:

DAC-2015-13 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located approximately 22km south of Charleville in Queensland. It was registered in September 2015 and covers 1,084.57ha.

Native Forest from Managed Regrowth projects involve allowing native forest to regenerate by ceasing mechanical or chemical clearing or suppression activities. The methodology requires the land to have been comprehensively cleared at least once for pastoral use and relies on in-situ seed sources, such as rootstock and lignotubers, to establish permanent forest cover.

The Charleville area is predominantly known for pastoral operations, including sheep and beef cattle grazing. The region is situated in a semi-arid climate zone, receiving an average historical annual rainfall of around 400-500mm. The local soils are typically Kandosols, which are red, yellow, and grey earths with sandy to loamy surfaces that support native mulga vegetation.

Interestingly, this project successfully completed its Carbon Abatement Contract (CAC102416) in October 2017, fulfilling a fixed delivery obligation of 152,500 ACCUs to the Commonwealth. Despite the successful completion of this contract, the project was later officially revoked under section 30 of the CFI Rule in August 2021.
