Project Information:

DAC-2015-13 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located approximately 25km south of Charleville in the Murweh Shire of Queensland. Registered in September 2015, the project covered 1,084 hectares of land primarily used for grazing. The project operated for nearly six years before being voluntarily revoked in August 2021, shortly after the proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon, was acquired by GreenCollar.

The project operated under the Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) methodology. Unlike environmental planting projects which involve active tree planting, this method generates carbon credits by allowing native vegetation to regenerate naturally. This is achieved by ceasing mechanical or chemical clearing and managing grazing pressure on land that was previously cleared for pastoral use. The specific activities for this project involved suppressing regrowth destruction to establish permanent native forests from in-situ seed sources like rootstock and lignotubers.

The Charleville region is part of the Mulga Lands bioregion, characterized by a semi-arid climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 500mm. The landscape is dominated by mulga (Acacia aneura) woodlands and the soils are typically red earths (Kandosols) or cracking clays (Vertosols), which are well-suited to the native pastures that support the region's cattle and sheep grazing industries.

A notable aspect of this project is its successful contract performance prior to revocation. It held a Carbon Abatement Contract (CAC102416) with the Clean Energy Regulator and successfully delivered 152,500 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by October 2017, completing its contract obligations well ahead of schedule. The revocation in 2021 followed the acquisition of Devine Agribusiness Carbon by GreenCollar, likely indicating a strategic consolidation or restructuring of the portfolio.
