DAC-2015-12 (Revoked)

Project Information:
DAC-2015-12 (Revoked) is a native forest regeneration project located approximately 80km northwest of Bollon in south-west Queensland. It was registered in September 2015 and covers an area of 6,874.45 hectares.
Native Forest from Managed Regrowth projects involve ceasing activities that previously suppressed or destroyed native vegetation, such as mechanical clearing, chemical destruction, or heavy grazing. The goal of this method is to allow native trees to naturally regenerate and eventually achieve true forest cover, which is defined as reaching at least 2 metres in height and a 20% crown cover across the land.
The Bollon and wider Balonne Shire region is heavily utilised for agricultural purposes, particularly sheep and cattle grazing on large pastoral stations. The area experiences a semi-arid climate with low and variable rainfall, typically supporting mulga and native grasses on soils ranging from red earths to sandy loams and clays.
This specific project was established to create permanent native forests through assisted regeneration from in-situ seed sources (including rootstock and lignotubers) on land that was subjected to at least one comprehensive clearing for pastoral use. Interestingly, the project was awarded a Carbon Abatement Contract (CAC102415) for a fixed delivery of 56,400 ACCUs during the November 2015 auction. After this contract was successfully fulfilled and completed in April 2018, the project was voluntarily revoked under section 30 of the CFI Rule in August 2021. The project proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd, operates as a subsidiary of the major Australian environmental markets developer GreenCollar.
