DAC-2015-10 (Revoked)
ERF101962
Project Information:
DAC-2015-10 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located approximately 80km north of Bollon and 120km west of St George in South West Queensland. It was registered in September 2015 and covers an area of 12,963.78 ha.
Native Forest from Managed Regrowth projects involve the cessation of mechanical or chemical destruction, or suppression, of regrowth. The standard requirements for this methodology mandate that permanent native forests are established through assisted regeneration from in-situ seed sources, including rootstock and lignotubers, on land that was subjected to at least one comprehensive clearing event for pastoral use.
The Balonne and Maranoa region where the project is situated is heavily utilized for pastoral grazing, primarily for beef cattle and sheep. The environment is classified as semi-arid with a generally low annual rainfall. The soils in this region typically consist of sandy loams, red earths, and cracking clays that support native pastures.
Interestingly, the project's proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd, was acquired by major environmental markets investor GreenCollar in July 2021. Shortly after this corporate acquisition, the project was formally voluntarily revoked in August 2021 under section 30 of the CFI Rule. Public contract registers indicate that before its revocation, DAC-2015-10 had secured a fixed delivery Carbon Abatement Contract (CAC102414) with the Clean Energy Regulator to deliver 173,000 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs).
