DAC-2015-10 (Revoked)

DAC-2015-10 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located approximately 110km northwest of St George in South West Queensland. It was registered in September 2015 and covered a substantial project area of 12,963.78 hectares.

Native Forest from Managed Regrowth projects involve allowing native vegetation to regenerate into a permanent native forest by ceasing activities that previously suppressed or destroyed regrowth, such as mechanical clearing or chemical spraying. The methodology's standard requirements stipulate that the land must have been subjected to at least one comprehensive clearing for pastoral use in the past, and it must possess the potential to achieve forest cover, which is typically defined as reaching a minimum of 20% crown cover and trees of at least 2 metres in height.

The South West Queensland region is historically known for its extensive pastoral operations, primarily focused on beef cattle and sheep grazing. The area experiences a semi-arid climate with low and highly variable rainfall. The soils in this general region are predominantly red earths, sandy loams, and cracking clays characteristic of the Mulga Lands and Brigalow Belt bioregions.

This project was established to create permanent native forests through assisted regeneration from in-situ seed sources, which notably included rootstock and lignotubers. The project was voluntarily revoked on August 20, 2021, under section 30 of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Rule. Interestingly, the project's proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd, was acquired by the major environmental markets investor GreenCollar in July 2021, marking a consolidation of carbon farming assets right around the time this specific project was revoked.
