DAC-2015-21 (Revoked)

Project Information:
DAC-2015-21 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located in the Murweh local government area, approximately 11km southeast of Morven and 90km east of Charleville in Queensland. It was registered in September 2015 and covers 2,009.43ha.
Native Forest from Managed Regrowth projects involve the cessation of mechanical or chemical destruction, or suppression, of regrowth. Standard requirements for this methodology stipulate that the land must have been comprehensively cleared for pastoral use in the past, and the regenerating native trees must have the potential to achieve a height of at least 2 metres and a crown cover of at least 20 per cent.
The Murweh Shire region is known primarily for cattle and sheep grazing operations. The area is classified as having a semi-arid climate with highly variable rainfall, and the soils generally consist of red earths, clay loams, and characteristic mulga soils.
This project was established to regenerate permanent native forests from in-situ seed sources, including rootstock and lignotubers. A carbon abatement contract (CAC102399) was secured with the Clean Energy Regulator for 450,000 ACCUs in November 2015, but it lapsed or was terminated in May 2017 with zero deliveries. The project was subsequently revoked in August 2021 under section 30 of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Rule.
