DAC-2015-11 (Revoked)

Project Information:

DAC-2015-11 (Revoked) is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located in the remote Maranoa region of Queensland, approximately 80km northwest of Bollon. The project was registered in September 2015 and covered a substantial area of 21,039 hectares. The region is characterized by a semi-arid climate with rainfall typically averaging between 400mm and 500mm annually. The landscape consists largely of red earth and sandy loam soils, supporting mulga and eucalypt woodlands traditionally used for grazing cattle and sheep.

The project operated under the Native Forest from Managed Regrowth (NFMR) methodology. This method is distinct from the more common Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) method, as it specifically targets land that has undergone at least one comprehensive clearing event for pastoral use in the past. To generate carbon credits, the project proponent ceases the mechanical or chemical suppression of regrowth, allowing native vegetation to regenerate from in-situ seed sources like rootstock and lignotubers. The goal is to restore permanent native forest cover on land that would otherwise be periodically cleared for agriculture.

Notable for its corporate history, the project was revoked on August 13, 2021, under Section 30 of the CFI Rule, which typically indicates a voluntary revocation. This event coincided closely with the acquisition of the proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon (DAC), by GreenCollar in July 2021. GreenCollar, a major environmental markets investor, acquired DAC to expand its portfolio in Queensland. It is common for projects to be revoked or consolidated following such acquisitions to align with the new owner's aggregation strategies or to transition land to newer methodologies.
