Project Information:

DAC-2015-05 (Revoked) was a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located in the Mulga Lands bioregion of South West Queensland, approximately 80km southwest of Dirranbandi. Registered in September 2015, the project covered a substantial area of 8,205 hectares. The region is predominantly used for pastoral grazing (sheep and cattle) and is characterized by a semi-arid climate with average rainfall between 400mm and 500mm. The landscape typically features red earth soils and sandy loams, supporting vegetation dominated by Mulga (Acacia aneura) and other native shrublands.

The project operated under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) (Native Forest from Managed Regrowth) Methodology Determination 2013. This methodology is a form of Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) that requires landholders to cease activities that suppress vegetation, such as mechanical clearing or chemical destruction. By stopping these "suppressors," the project aimed to allow native forests to regenerate from in-situ seed sources like rootstock and lignotubers.

A significant note regarding this project is its revocation on August 20, 2021. This event occurred shortly after the project proponent, Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd (DAC), was acquired by GreenCollar in July 2021. The proximity of the revocation to the acquisition suggests a portfolio review where the project may have been voluntarily cancelled (indicated by the section 30 revocation) to be restructured, re-registered under a newer method, or removed due to commercial viability assessments. The project had previously been contracted under the Emissions Reduction Fund, but this contract was terminated or lapsed prior to the revocation.
