Werrina Carbon Farming Project (Revoked)

Project Information:
Werrina Carbon Farming Project is a Native Forest from Managed Regrowth project located approximately 60km southwest of Charleville in Queensland. It was registered in December 2014 and covers 2,868.14 hectares.
Native Forest from Managed Regrowth projects involve allowing native vegetation to regenerate to achieve forest cover. This is typically achieved by ceasing suppressive activities; for this project, the specific activities involved the cessation of mechanical or chemical destruction, or suppression, of regrowth. The goal was to establish permanent native forests through assisted regeneration from in-situ seed sources (including rootstock and lignotubers) on land that had been subject to at least one comprehensive clearing for pastoral use.
The Charleville region is situated in Queensland's Mulga Lands and is predominantly known for cattle and sheep grazing operations. The area is characterised by a semi-arid climate with low and highly variable rainfall. Soils in this region generally consist of red earths, sandy loams, and some clay plains.
Originally featuring Devine Agribusiness Carbon Pty Ltd as a participant, the project proponent was varied to Brock and Katrina Hindmarch in August 2021. Brock Hindmarch is notably active in the local agricultural community, managing two properties in the Charleville district and serving as a board member for AgForce Queensland's Sheep, Wool, and Goats committee. Despite its 2014 registration, the Clean Energy Regulator issued a notice under section 32 of the CFI Act in February 2026 requiring the proponents to relinquish 46,767 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). The project was ultimately revoked under section 29 of the CFI Rule in May 2026.
