'Moya Farm Carbon Project 1

Moya Farm Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon project located approximately 12km northeast of Blanchetown and 25km south of Morgan in South Australia. It was registered in July 2026. While the exact project area is currently unknown, the surrounding region is heavily utilized for agricultural purposes, particularly dryland grazing and cropping.

Soil carbon projects operate under the "Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models" methodology. These projects involve building soil organic carbon through the introduction of materially different agricultural management practices, which must be verified through rigorous baseline soil core sampling, lab analysis, and ongoing modeled or measured sampling over time. This specific project aims to sequester carbon by altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of livestock grazing to promote soil vegetation cover and improve overall soil health. Additionally, nutrients in the form of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers will be applied to the land to address material soil deficiencies.

The environment around the Blanchetown region is semi-arid with very low rainfall, generally averaging under 300mm annually. The soils in this agricultural zone are typically characterized by calcareous loams, neutral loamy soils, and sandy loams over clay.

An interesting note about this project is that it is developed by AgriProve Solutions Pty Ltd, a major Australian carbon soil-tech company that recently facilitated South Australia's first soil carbon ACCU issuance at the Lynch Carbon Project in 2024. Furthermore, public registry data indicates that this project is part of a larger staged rollout on the property, registered concurrently with several other projects running consecutively from "Moya Farm Carbon Project 1" through to "Moya Farm Carbon Project 6".
