Project Information:
Limeestone2026R_Hines_S3 is a plantation forestry project located in the Green Triangle region of south-western Victoria, approximately 40km east-southeast of Mount Gambier. It was registered in May 2026 and covers 375.43ha.
Plantation forestry projects involve establishing a new plantation, transitioning a short-rotation plantation to a long-rotation one, or maintaining a pre-existing plantation to prevent it from being converted to non-forested land. Standard methodology requirements dictate that the forest must be maintained at a commercial stocking density and actively managed for the commercial harvesting of wood products.
The Green Triangle region is renowned for its extensive commercial forestry operations, including substantial Pinus radiata (radiata pine) and Eucalyptus globulus (blue gum) plantations, as well as agricultural livestock grazing. The area benefits from a high rainfall climate, and local soils typically range from deep infertile sands to sandy loams overlaying limestone karst.
This project sequesters carbon by avoiding the conversion of an existing or recently harvested plantation to non-forested land. Instead, a new plantation forest is established and maintained for commercial harvesting. The project is owned by OneFortyOne Plantations Pty Ltd, with SFM Agribusiness Pty Ltd recently retained to act as the ongoing asset manager for the Limestone Plantations portfolio following recent acquisitions.
