Project Information:

Limeestone2026R_Hines_S3 is a plantation forestry project located in the Victorian section of the Green Triangle region. It was registered in May 2026 and covers an unknown area.

Plantation forestry projects generate carbon credits by establishing new plantation forests, changing management practices (such as converting from short-rotation to long-rotation), or avoiding the conversion of an existing or recently harvested plantation to non-forested land. Under this methodology, the trees must be established and maintained as a plantation forest for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The Greater Green Triangle region, which encompasses south-west Victoria and south-east South Australia, is highly regarded for its extensive commercial softwood and hardwood forestry operations, alongside rich agricultural land uses such as sheep and cattle grazing. The environment is characterised by regular, reliable rainfall and diverse, highly productive soil types including rich volcanic soils and sandy loams over limestone.

This project is operated by major forestry company OneFortyOne Plantations, with SFM Agribusiness acting as another participant. SFM Agribusiness is notably the retained manager of the 'Limestone Plantations' estate under OneFortyOne Plantations' ownership. The project area falls under the broader SFM Green Triangle Limestone Forest Management Unit. By continuing the plantation rather than allowing the land to be cleared for grazing or cropping, the project secures long-term carbon sequestration outcomes while supporting the robust local timber processing industry.
