Project Information:

Willow Park & Glenrock Soil Carbon Project is a soil carbon project located at Brockley, a rural locality roughly 24km east of Guyra in the Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales. The project was registered in May 2026 and covers an area of 1,583.48 hectares.

Soil carbon projects operate by implementing new or materially different land management practices that capture and store atmospheric carbon in agricultural soils. Under the 2021 Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models methodology, proponents can earn Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by demonstrating a measurable increase in soil carbon over time, which is verified through strict baseline soil sampling and subsequent modelling.

The Brockley and Guyra region is renowned for its highly productive pastoral farming, largely dedicated to cattle and sheep grazing. The area typically benefits from a moderate to high average annual rainfall of around 700-800mm, though it is subject to variable drought conditions. The environment is characterized by fertile, fractured basalt soils and clay loams, which are well-suited for high-quality pasture growth.

This specific project aims to increase soil carbon within the agricultural system by applying synthetic or non-synthetic nutrients to the land. By addressing material deficiencies in the soil, the improved fertility promotes healthier, deeper pasture root systems, which in turn accelerates the build-up of organic carbon. The proponent, McKemey Agricultural Trust, runs a commercial cattle enterprise from the property. They are supported in this project by Carbon Link Operations Pty Ltd, an Australian carbon service provider known for pioneering the use of advanced modelling and deep soil sampling to accurately quantify carbon sequestration in grazing systems.
