Ennovo - Organic C&I Waste

Project Information:

Ennovo - Organic C&I Waste is an aggregated waste diversion project located in the Wakefield local government area, approximately 60km north of Adelaide in South Australia. It was registered in March 2026. The project does not have a single traditional property boundary or area size, as it manages aggregated commercial and industrial (C&I) waste streams. The surrounding Wakefield region is known for agricultural land uses like cropping and grazing, mixed with major waste management and resource recovery precincts such as the Dublin Eco Hub. The regional environment typically experiences a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with low to moderate rainfall, and local soils generally consist of calcareous clays and sandy loams.

Source Separated Organic Waste projects operate under a methodology that separates eligible organic materials at the point of generation to divert them from landfills. Instead of the waste breaking down anaerobically in a landfill and releasing highly potent methane gas into the atmosphere, the organic material is transferred to a facility where it undergoes eligible treatments like open windrow or forced-aeration composting.

This project involves the proponent DBD Environmental Pty Ltd (trading as Ennovo) treating the diverted waste using their advanced, telemetry-enabled "Carbon Air" system. This automated, forced-aeration composting technology continuously oxygenates the waste, drastically reducing processing times and the need for manual labour compared to traditional windrow turners. Capable of processing over 100,000 tonnes of organics annually, this advanced technique enables Ennovo to produce a high-quality "Living Earth" compost product that restores essential carbon and microbes to depleted agricultural soils, all while generating valuable Australian Carbon Credit Units.
