Riversdale Reforestation Project

Project Information:
Riversdale Reforestation Project is an environmental planting project located approximately 35km northwest of Cooma in the Snowy Mountains region of NSW. It was registered in April 2026 and covers 914.58ha.
Environmental planting projects involve planting a mix of native trees and understorey species at a density sufficient to achieve forest cover, which typically requires a density of at least 200 stems per ha to reach a 2-metre height and 20% crown cover.
The Cooma and broader Monaro region is well-known for its rich history in sheep and cattle grazing operations. The area generally experiences moderate rainfall, sometimes influenced by the Monaro rain shadow, and the soils are typically derived from basalt and granite, presenting as clay and sandy loams.
This project establishes permanent plantings of native, local tree species on land that was predominantly used for agriculture for at least five years prior to commencement. It is supported by Permagen Planting Management Pty Ltd, an active project developer and agent involved in a wider portfolio of environmental plantings across the country.
