Salt Valley Road Landfill Gas Project is a landfill gas emissions destruction project located at Hoddy's Well in the Shire of Toodyay, approximately 85km northeast of Perth in Western Australia. It was registered in July 2026. While the specific area size for the new gas infrastructure is not publicly listed, the landfill itself is situated within a larger 619ha property.

Reducing methane emissions from landfill gas projects involve capturing and combusting methane generated by decomposing organic waste. Standard requirements involve installing new collection infrastructure or upgrading existing systems, such as this project's flaring-only setup, to convert potent methane gas into less harmful carbon dioxide. This process allows the project to generate ACCUs by metering the volume of gas destroyed and substantially lowering the site's overall global warming potential.

The Toodyay and Hoddy's Well area sits within the western edge of Western Australia's Wheatbelt region. The surrounding rural land use is historically dominated by livestock grazing (farming) and extractive industries, specifically clay mining for brick and tile production. The region experiences a Mediterranean climate with moderate to semi-arid rainfall typical of the Wheatbelt. Soils in the immediate project area are primarily dense ridges of clay, which is why the landfill was strategically sited within the footprint of the former Williamsons Clay Pit.

This project, managed by LMS Energy Pty Ltd, is a new, non-safeguard initiative designed to capture and combust gas generated from both legacy and non-legacy waste at the site. Interestingly, the Salt Valley Road Landfill (operated by Opal Vale Pty Ltd) faced significant community opposition and debate regarding truck movements and environmental impacts before its approval as a Class II putrescible landfill around 2015. LMS Energy's installation of an active landfill gas collection and flaring system represents a major environmental upgrade for the controversial waste site, actively mitigating its greenhouse gas footprint.
