Project Information:

Landari Dunalley 2025 is a plantation forestry project located at Dunalley approximately 55km east of Hobart in Tasmania. It was registered in March 2026 and covers 298.72 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects under the Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry Methodology Determination 2022 involve establishing a new plantation forest or transitioning an existing short-rotation plantation forest into a permanent planting. This specific project sequesters carbon by ensuring the trees remain in the ground permanently, effectively protecting the plantation in a situation where it is at high risk of being cleared and converted to non-forested land.

The Tasman local government area around Dunalley is known for varied agricultural land uses, including grazing for sheep and cattle, pasture production, and forestry operations. The region experiences a cool temperate climate with moderate to low rainfall compared to the rest of the state, typically receiving between 500mm and 800mm annually. Soils in the region are highly diverse, ranging from sands and clay loams to specific types like Dermosols and duplex Sodosols.

This project is managed by Landari Pty Ltd, a project developer that focuses on utilizing permanent vegetation for both carbon and biodiversity offset projects across Australia. By preventing the area from being converted to non-forest uses, Landari Dunalley 2025 secures ongoing environmental benefits for the local Tasmanian landscape while generating Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) for the proponent.
