Project Information:
Landari FFTT 2025 is a plantation forestry project located in the Green Triangle region of western Victoria, approximately 20km south of Casterton near the South Australian border. It was registered in January 2026 and covers 366.07 hectares.
Plantation forestry projects involve establishing, maintaining, or modifying plantation forests for the commercial harvesting of wood products. Standard requirements under this methodology include planting commercial tree species at defined stocking densities, adhering to specific silvicultural management practices, and committing to a permanence period (typically 25 or 100 years) to ensure the carbon remains stored in the landscape.
The Green Triangle region is renowned as one of Australia's premier forestry hubs, supporting extensive softwood and hardwood plantations alongside traditional sheep and cattle grazing. The area is classified as having a moderate to high rainfall Mediterranean climate, and features soils that are predominantly sandy loams over a clay base, making it highly suitable for sustained timber production.
This project sequesters carbon by avoiding the conversion of an existing or recently harvested plantation to non-forested agricultural land. Instead, it ensures the land remains forested by establishing and maintaining a new plantation cycle. The project is operated by proponent Fairthorne Timber Trading Pty Ltd in association with Landari Pty Ltd, who jointly manage multiple forestry and environmental planting aggregations across the country. Fairthorne Timber Trading has also been actively supported by the federal Support Plantation Establishment program to help expand Australia's domestic timber resources.
