Project Information:

Green Space is an environmental planting project located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, approximately 30km northeast of the township of Gnowangerup and 50km east of the regional centre of Katanning. Registered in December 2025, the project covers 221.75 hectares of land typically used for mixed farming operations, including cropping and sheep grazing, which characterizes the broader Western Australian Wheatbelt.

The project operates under the 2024 Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings-FullCAM methodology. This framework credits landholders for establishing permanent native vegetation on land that was previously cleared for at least five years. The project activities involve planting a mix of native tree and shrub species, such as Mallee eucalypts, tailored to the local vegetation community. The planting is designed to reach a forest cover density, sequestering carbon in the growing biomass.

The local environment features a Mediterranean climate with a typical annual rainfall of approximately 400mm to 500mm. The terrain generally consists of sandy duplex soils, gravels, and clays, which are common in the Gnowangerup shire. The project proponent is Benjamin Joseph Hobley, trustee for The Wingara Land Trust. Notably, the Youardup Farm Trust is also listed as a participant involved in project design; this entity trades as "Woodland Services & Consulting," suggesting the project benefits from specialized forestry and land management expertise.
