Green Space

Green Space is an environmental planting project located at Nyabing, approximately 60km east of Katanning in Western Australia. It was registered in December 2025 and covers 221.75ha.

Environmental planting projects involve planting native trees at a density of at least 200 stems per ha. This project specifically establishes permanent plantings of a mix of native tree and shrub species that reflect the structure and composition of the local native vegetation community.

The Nyabing area is widely known for broadacre cropping and sheep farming operations. The region is considered low-to-medium rainfall and soils are generally sandy loam over clay, situated within ancient paleochannels that are highly prone to secondary salinity.

This project was set up by The Wingara Land Trust to revegetate areas of the farming estate that are no longer considered viable for traditional agriculture. The plantings are designed to reduce the creep of localized rising groundwater, improve on-farm biodiversity, and build resilience in a drying climate. Physical planting operations are slated to be managed by Woodland Services over the winter of 2026.
