Project Information:

Redgum Origins Project is a plantation forestry initiative located approximately 30km southwest of Yass in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. Registered on January 19, 2026, the project covers a land area of 607.81 hectares. The surrounding Yass Valley region is a significant agricultural hub, traditionally dominated by fine wool and cattle grazing, though it is also increasingly recognised for cool-climate viticulture and hobby farms.

The project operates under the 2022 Plantation Forestry methodology, which focuses on establishing new plantation forests for commercial harvesting. By planting trees on land that has not recently supported native forest, the project generates carbon credits through the storage of carbon in trees and long-term wood products. This approach allows for a dual revenue stream from both carbon abatement and sustainable timber production.

Environmentally, the site lies within a moderate rainfall zone, receiving approximately 650mm annually, which is suitable for forestry operations like Pinus radiata or native hardwood plantations. The local terrain typically consists of texture-contrast soils (Chromosols) with loamy topsoils overlying red or yellow clay subsoils, providing a stable foundation for forestry activities. The project is managed by Redgum Forestry Pty Ltd, a newly established entity, with compliance and administrative support provided by Integrated Carbon Farming Pty Ltd.
