Landari Nugent 2025

Landari Nugent 2025 is a plantation forestry project located near Nugent, approximately 15km east of Sorell and 40km east of Hobart in south-east Tasmania. Registered in March 2026, the project covers an area of 141.07 hectares. The surrounding agricultural region is typically utilised for a mix of grazing, dairying, and both native and plantation forestry operations.

Plantation forestry projects under the 2022 Carbon Farming Initiative methodology generate carbon credits by establishing new plantations, transitioning existing sites to longer harvest rotations, or avoiding the conversion of an existing plantation to non-forested land. For this specific project, carbon is sequestered by avoiding the conversion of an existing or harvested plantation and instead establishing and maintaining a new plantation forest for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The Nugent area is characterised by a cool, temperate climate with low summer rainfall and an annual average of around 500-750mm. Soils across the region vary but generally feature relatively fertile clays derived from Tertiary basalt and dolerite, as well as sandy soils from Triassic sandstone. These soil profiles and conditions make the better-drained areas well-suited for sustained silviculture and forestry operations.

The project proponent, Landari Pty Ltd, is an established carbon and biodiversity offsets developer specialising in permanent vegetation and plantation forestry methods across Australia. They manage several other ACCU projects, including the Landari Tasmania 2023 - Triangle and Landari Yea 2022 projects. The company is also an active associate member of the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA), reinforcing their integration within the commercial timber and carbon markets.
