Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 5

Project Information:

Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 5 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 30km southwest of Cobar in the Orana region of New South Wales. Registered in November 2025, the project covers a project area of roughly 620 hectares within the Cobar Shire.

The project is situated in the Cobar Peneplain bioregion, an area defined by its semi-arid climate and extensive rangelands. The landscape typically features red earth soils and supports vegetation such as mulga, bimble box, and white cypress pine. Land use in this region is predominantly grazing for sheep, goats, and cattle, which aligns with the project's focus on agricultural land management.

Operated by AgriProve Solutions, the project functions under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021. This methodology allows landholders to earn carbon credits by increasing soil organic carbon stocks through changes in land management. Specific activities for this project include applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies and altering grazing stocking rates or intensity to promote better vegetation cover and soil health. The sequential naming of the project suggests it is one of several staged carbon projects established on the Nullwarra aggregation.
