Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 3

Project Information:
Nullwarra Improvement Carbon Project 3 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 40km southwest of Cobar in the Orana region of New South Wales. Registered on November 28, 2025, the project covers a project area of 515.17 hectares. The "Project 3" designation suggests this is part of a larger aggregation or segmented property registration, a common strategy used to manage audit timing and cash flow across extensive pastoral holdings; this is corroborated by the existence of a "Project 9" also registered in the Cobar local government area around the same time.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon (Measurement and Models) methodology. This method requires the proponent, Agriprove Solutions Pty Ltd, to demonstrate an increase in soil organic carbon (SOC) over time compared to a baseline. To achieve this, the project employs specific land management activities, explicitly altering stocking rates and grazing intensity to improve vegetation cover, alongside the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies. These activities are designed to stimulate plant growth and root biomass, which in turn draws carbon from the atmosphere into the soil profile.
Environmentally, the Cobar region is classified as semi-arid, typically receiving approximately 390mm of rainfall annually, though this is highly variable. The landscape is part of the Cobar Peneplain, characterized by slightly undulating rangelands traditionally used for grazing sheep, goats, and cattle. The soils in this vicinity are generally Red Earths (Kandosols) and Red Brown Earths (Chromosols), which are often nutrient-poor and fragile but responsive to careful management and rainfall events. The project's focus on nutrient application indicates an intent to correct the phosphorus or nitrogen deficiencies common in these native soil types to maximize pasture response.
