Project Information:

Ridgeway Farms Reforestation Project is a reforestation project located on the "Ridgeway Farms" property, approximately 14km north-west of the town of Tottenham in Central West New South Wales. Registered in November 2025, the project covers a substantial area of 1,532 hectares. The region is traditionally a dryland cropping and grazing hub, with the specific property previously operating as a prime cropping enterprise producing wheat, barley, and canola before its conversion to carbon farming.

The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) (Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings, FullCAM) Methodology Determination 2024. This methodology focuses on establishing permanent native forests on land that has been clear of forest cover for at least five years. Projects of this type generally require planting species local to the area at a density sufficient to achieve forest cover, calculated using the Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM). Specifically, this project involves establishing permanent mallee plantings, utilizing a mix of native tree and shrub species that reflect the structure of the local vegetation community.

Environmental conditions in the Tottenham region are characterized by a semi-arid climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 490mm. The landscape features "Red loam Kurrajong country," consisting of red earth and clay loam soils (Chromosols) which are typical for the area and historically valued for their arable potential. An interesting note is that the property was sold in August 2025, just months prior to the project's registration, signaling a rapid transition from traditional agriculture to carbon sequestration under the management of proponent Coda Carbon Holdings.
