Deltroit Environmental Planting Project

Project Information:

The Deltroit Environmental Planting Project is a reforestation initiative located on the historic "Deltroit Station" in Mundarlo, approximately 33km south of Gundagai and 40km east of Wagga Wagga in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales. Registered in September 2025, the project covers roughly 53 hectares of this significant pastoral holding.

The project operates under the 2024 Environmental or Mallee Plantings methodology, which involves establishing and maintaining permanent native forests to sequester carbon. The planting utilizes a mix of tree and shrub species strictly local to the Mundarlo area, designed to emulate the structure of the pre-European native vegetation communities. These plantings are modelled using FullCAM to calculate carbon abatement.

Deltroit Station is situated in a highly productive agricultural zone characterized by a reliable rainfall of approximately 650mm per annum. The landscape consists of fertile creek flats rising to soft, undulating hills with productive soils that support high-density livestock grazing and cropping. The region is primarily used for beef cattle, prime lamb production, and cereal cropping.

The property is owned by MHPF Watson Park Land Pty Ltd, an entity associated with MH Premium Farms, the agricultural investment vehicle of British-Australian businessman Sir Michael Hintze. Deltroit Station is a "pastoral powerhouse" with a rich history; it was previously owned by the US-based King Ranch group and famously hosted King Charles III (then Prince Charles) and Queen Camilla for a private stay during their 2018 tour of Australia.
