Glenalan Carbon Project

Project Information:
The Glenalan Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Shire of Victoria Plains, Western Australia, approximately 120 kilometres north of Perth and near the locality of Mogumber. Registered on August 25, 2025, the project covers a project area of 403.41 hectares. The surrounding region is part of the Western Australian Wheatbelt, a landscape dominated by broadacre cropping (wheat, canola, barley) and sheep grazing operations.
The project operates under the Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models 2021 methodology. This method requires landholders to establish a baseline of soil carbon stocks through physical sampling and then implement new management activities, such as the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilisers to correct material deficiencies, as seen in this project, to sequester additional carbon. Credits are issued based on the measured or modelled increase in soil carbon over time, incentivizing the adoption of regenerative agricultural practices.
Environmentally, the Victoria Plains region typically experiences a Mediterranean climate with a rainfall range of approximately 450mm to 600mm annually, largely falling in winter. The local soil profiles are characteristic of the Dandaragan Plateau and northern Wheatbelt, often featuring sandy duplex soils, deep sands, and ironstone gravels (lateritic soils). These soil types generally have low inherent fertility and organic carbon, making them suitable candidates for improvement through targeted nutrient management and carbon farming techniques. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions Pty Ltd, a prominent developer in the Australian soil carbon sector.
