Project Information:
Limestone2025R_Shider_S3 is a Plantation Forestry project located in the Green Triangle region of South West Victoria, approximately 40km north of Warrnambool near the locality of Minhamite. Registered in July 2025, the project covers a specific area of 132.36 hectares. The "Limestone" in the project title refers to OneFortyOne's broader plantation estate across the Limestone Coast and Green Triangle, rather than the town of Limestone, Victoria.
This project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022, specifically utilizing Schedule 3: Avoided Conversion. This activity creates carbon credits by committing to maintain a plantation forest that was otherwise scheduled to be converted into non-forested land (typically for agriculture such as grazing or cropping) after harvest. By continuing the plantation cycle or transitioning to permanent cover, the project avoids the emissions associated with clearing and decomposition, while sequestering further carbon in the new rotation.
The surrounding region is situated on the Victorian Volcanic Plain, characterized by fertile basalt-derived clay soils and "stony rises." It is a high-rainfall zone, making it one of Australia's premier regions for both intensive dairy farming and commercial forestry (primarily Pinus radiata and Eucalyptus globulus).
An interesting administrative note is the variation in participant details in late 2025, showing a transfer from "The Trust Company (PTAL) Limited as trustee for ANZFOF2 Sub 1" to OneFortyOne Plantations directly. This suggests the project assets were previously held in a forest investment fund (ANZ Forest Fund 2) before being consolidated into OneFortyOne's primary operational portfolio. The project is managed with the assistance of SFM Environmental Solutions.
