The "Limestone" in the project title refers to OneFortyOne's broader plantation estate across the Limestone Coast and Green Triangle, rather than the town of Limestone, Victoria.

This project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022, specifically utilizing Schedule 3: Avoided Conversion. This activity creates carbon credits by committing to maintain a plantation forest that was otherwise scheduled to be converted into non-forested land (typically for agriculture such as grazing or cropping) after harvest. By continuing the plantation cycle or transitioning to permanent cover, the project avoids the emissions associated with clearing and decomposition, while sequestering further carbon in the new rotation.

The surrounding region is situated on the Victorian Volcanic Plain, characterized by fertile basalt-derived clay soils and "stony rises."
