FarmStrong Mallee Reforestation

FarmStrong Mallee Reforestation is a reforestation by environmental or mallee plantings project located in the Perenjori area, approximately 350km north of Perth in Western Australia. It was registered on May 21, 2025, and covers 1620.51 ha.

Projects registered under the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings (FullCAM) Methodology 2024 involve establishing permanent, non-harvest forests using either a mixture of native species or mallee trees. To be eligible and earn credits, the planted trees must be established on land that has been clear of forest cover for at least five years and have the potential to reach a height of at least 2 meters with a minimum 20% crown cover over the planting area.

The Perenjori region is situated in Western Australia's northern agricultural region, where the primary land use is broadacre farming, predominantly focused on wheat and other cereal cropping alongside sheep grazing. The area experiences a semi-arid, Mediterranean climate characterized by hot, dry summers and relatively low winter rainfall. Soils across this catchment typically feature sandy earths, earthy sands, lateritic uplands, and gravelly light sandy clay loams.

This project establishes and maintains permanent plantings consisting specifically of mallee eucalypt species. Notably, the project has committed to a 100-year permanence period, meaning the carbon stored in these mallee plantings will be maintained and protected for a century. In July 2026, the project underwent a registered variation, updating the project proponent from Carbon Neutral Pty Ltd to Carbon Neutral Securities Pty Ltd as trustee for the Farmstrong Carbon Trust.
