'FarmStrong Mallee Reforestation

Project Information:
FarmStrong Mallee Reforestation is a mallee planting project located in the Perenjori Shire, approximately 350km north of Perth in Western Australia. It was registered in May 2025 and covers 1,620.51 hectares.
Mallee planting projects involve establishing and maintaining permanent plantings of native mallee eucalypt species to achieve forest cover and permanently sequester carbon. This project has nominated a 100-year permanence period.
The Perenjori region is known for primary production, dominated by broadacre wheat cropping and sheep grazing. The area is semi-arid with low rainfall, typically receiving less than 350mm annually. Soils in the region generally consist of hard alkaline red soils, red sandy loams, and gravelly sands over laterite duricrust.
This project was established to integrate native mallee plantings into the landscape alongside ongoing agricultural production. This mixed-use approach helps balance carbon sequestration with local community priorities, as the local council has historically expressed concerns regarding carbon tree farms consuming entire productive agricultural lots. In July 2026, the project proponent was officially varied from Carbon Neutral Pty Ltd to Carbon Neutral Securities Pty Ltd as trustee for the Farmstrong Carbon Trust.
