Carr Carbon Project 2

Carr Carbon Project 2 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 55km north-northwest of the major regional hub of Goondiwindi, in southern Queensland. Registered in December 2024, the project covers a specific area of roughly 135 hectares. The site sits within the Goondiwindi Regional Council area, a region renowned for its diverse agricultural output, including broadacre cropping and livestock grazing.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon Methodology (Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models). This rigorous standard requires landholders to implement "new and materially different" management activities to drive carbon storage. For Carr Carbon Project 2, the specific interventions include re-establishing or rejuvenating pastures through seeding and altering grazing mechanics (stocking rate, duration, or intensity). By optimizing vegetation cover and root mass, the project aims to draw carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it stably in the soil profile.

Environmentally, the site is situated in the Brigalow Belt bioregion, an area historically characterized by fertile cracking clay soils (Vertosols) and loams, which are well-suited to carbon farming if managed correctly. The local climate is sub-humid to semi-arid with a summer-dominant rainfall averaging around 600mm annually. The proponent, AgriProve Solutions, is a prominent developer in the Australian market, known for using a partnership model that streamlines the complex baseline sampling and reporting requirements for landholders.
