Linton AC Project (RFM)

Project Information:
Linton AC Project (RFM) is an Avoided Clearing project located in the Traprock region of Southern Queensland, approximately 30km south of Karara and 40km northwest of Stanthorpe. Registered on March 28, 2025, the project covers nearly 140 hectares of native forest on the "Linton" property. The project is managed by Regen Farmers Mutual, a farmer-owned cooperative that aggregates smaller landholdings to access environmental markets.
The project operates under the Avoided Clearing of Native Regrowth methodology. This method credits landholders for retaining native vegetation that has historically been cleared and re-grown, and which the landholder currently has the legal right to clear again (typically classified as Category X land in Queensland). By surrendering this clearing right and maintaining the forest for a set permanence period (usually 25 or 100 years), the project avoids emissions that would have occurred from agricultural clearing.
The Traprock region is a distinct landscape known for its steep, rolling hills and fine wool production. The area receives moderate rainfall, typically around 650mm annually with a summer dominance. The soils are characteristic "Traprock" soils, shallow, stony, and hard-setting loams derived from sedimentary rocks like indurated mudstone. The vegetation in this area often consists of Box Gum Grassy Woodlands, Ironbark, and Cypress Pine. This project is likely part of the broader "Traprock Landscape Impact Program" coordinated by Regen Farmers Mutual, which aims to create biodiversity corridors and protect endangered Box Gum Woodlands across multiple properties.
