AA2025R_WoodsdaleP_S3 is a plantation forestry project located in Woodsdale within the Southern Midlands region of Tasmania, approximately 85km north of Hobart. It was registered in November 2024 and initially covered an area of 135.35 hectares.

Plantation forestry projects operating under the 2022 methodology generate Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by establishing new plantation forests, converting short-rotation plantations to long-rotation, or avoiding the conversion of an existing plantation to non-forested land. Standard requirements mandate that the project land is maintained as a plantation forest with viable commercial tree stocking densities and is actively managed for the ongoing growth and eventual sustainable harvesting of wood products.

The Woodsdale area is renowned for its mixed agricultural pursuits, including sheep grazing for wool, beef cattle farming, and broadacre cropping, operating alongside both private and state forestry operations. The region experiences a moderate to low cool-temperate rainfall, averaging around 516mm annually. Local soils are highly varied but typically consist of grey-brown sandy loams, as well as podzolic soils derived from siliceous sandstone, which are historically well-suited for long-rotation commercial timber species.

This project generates carbon credits by avoiding the conversion of an existing or recently harvested plantation to non-forested land, thereby keeping the land in the plantation lifecycle and preventing the release of sequestered carbon. A variation was officially made on July 25, 2025, to add more area to the registered project boundary. Furthermore, the project is managed by SFM Environmental Solutions Pty Ltd on behalf of the proponent, The Trust Company (Australia) Limited as trustee for The Tasmanian Carbon Afforestation Sub-Trust. This partnership is heavily involved in the "ActivAcre" program across Tasmania, an initiative designed to provide landowners with supplementary income by leasing underutilised or lower-quality agricultural land for high-integrity carbon and timber-producing assets.
