Landari Continuing Aggregation
ERF198781
Project Information:
Landari Continuing Aggregation is a plantation forestry project located near Lebrina, approximately 35km north-east of Launceston in Tasmania. The project was registered in January 2025 and covers an area of roughly 94 hectares.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. Specifically, it utilizes the "avoided conversion" activity. This involves maintaining an existing plantation forest that was at documented risk of being cleared and converted into non-forested land, such as agricultural pasture. By committing to continue the plantation cycle (replanting or managing regrowth) rather than clearing the land for grazing or cropping, the project ensures that the carbon stored in the timber biomass remains sequestered.
The Lebrina region is situated in North East Tasmania, an area characterized by a mix of intensive forestry operations and agricultural grazing. The local environment is temperate with high rainfall, averaging approximately 900–1,000mm annually, which is ideal for timber production. The soils in this vicinity are typically distinctive texture-contrast soils derived from granite or fertile ferrosols (red clay soils), supporting robust vegetation growth.
Landari Pty Ltd, the project proponent, is a specialized carbon project developer with a significant portfolio of plantation projects across Tasmania and the mainland, often aggregating smaller plantation estates to manage them efficiently under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme.
