Lloyd Carbon Project 6

Project Information:
Lloyd Carbon Project 6 is a soil carbon sequestration project located approximately 20km south-west of Temora in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Registered on October 21, 2024, the project covers a land area of 95.06 hectares. The project is situated within the Temora Shire, a region traditionally dominated by mixed farming operations, including winter cropping (canola, wheat) and sheep grazing.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Estimation of Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration using Measurement and Models) Methodology Determination 2021. This methodology incentivizes landholders to adopt new management activities that increase soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks. Key activities implemented in this project include altering grazing intensity to improve ground cover, applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies, retaining crop stubble, and rejuvenating pastures through seeding. By converting from intensive tillage to reduced or no-tillage practices, the project aims to minimize soil disturbance and enhance carbon retention.
Environmentally, the Temora region is characterized by a temperate climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 525mm. The local soil profiles typically consist of red-brown earths and sodosols (duplex soils with clay subsoils), which are productive but can be susceptible to acidity and structure decline if over-cultivated. This project serves as a practical example of integrating regenerative agricultural practices into established farming systems to improve soil health while generating Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs). The project appears to be part of a broader aggregation or series, as evidenced by the registration of other "Lloyd Carbon" projects (e.g., Lloyd Carbon Project 8) by the same proponent, Agriprove Solutions.
