Landari Camden 2024

Project Information:
Landari Camden 2024 is a plantation forestry project located in the Launceston City Council area, approximately 30km northeast of Launceston in Tasmania. It was registered in November 2024 and covers an area of 44.88 hectares.
Plantation forestry projects that focus on avoided conversion involve sequestering carbon by preventing an existing or recently harvested plantation forest from being cleared for non-forested land use. The land is instead maintained as a continuing plantation, which requires maintaining an adequate stocking density of trees to ensure ongoing forest cover.
The greater Launceston area is known for a mix of undulating plains and hills that support grazing, nature conservation, and significant forestry operations. The region experiences a cool, temperate climate with moderate to high rainfall, averaging between 665mm and 1000mm annually depending on elevation. The local soils typically consist of tertiary clays, gravels, and sandy loams derived from dolerite and sandstone deposits.
An interesting facet of this project is its proponent, Landari Pty Ltd, a specialist forestry carbon and biodiversity offsets developer. They manage numerous carbon projects and aggregations across Australia, concentrating on the use of permanent vegetation to sequester carbon. This specific project was established with a nominated permanence period of 25 years, ensuring the long-term sequestration of emissions through continuous plantation management.
