Irish Corner Landscape Regeneration

ERF188855

Project Information:

Irish Corner Landscape Regeneration is a soil carbon project located in the Mandemar and High Range area of the Southern Highlands, approximately 20km west of Mittagong, New South Wales. Registered in October 2025, the project covers nearly 180 hectares of historic grazing land.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which awards Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) for measured increases in soil organic carbon. To achieve this, the project activities involve a transition to regenerative agricultural practices, including the application of nutrients to address soil deficiencies, pasture cropping, and the re-establishment of permanent pasture species. The proponent, Frontier Carbon Pty Ltd (trading as Frontier Impact Group), specializes in "whole-of-farm" carbon strategies that integrate landscape restoration with agricultural productivity.

The Southern Highlands region is characterized by a cool-temperate climate with moderate to high rainfall, typically ranging from 700mm to 900mm annually, making it well-suited for high-biomass pasture growth. The local terrain features "green rolling pastures" often supported by fertile basalt-derived or clay-loam soils. Interesting to note is that the project area appears to be associated with "The Irish Corner," a property with deep roots in sheep farming that has recently diversified into eco-tourism, highlighting a trend of multi-use land management in the region.
