Beddall Carbon Project 6

Project Information:

Beddall Carbon Project 6 is a soil carbon project located in the Banana Shire of Central Queensland, approximately 30km southwest of the town of Moura. The project was registered in September 2025 and covers a project area of 300.32 hectares. This initiative is part of a broader engagement in the region, with other projects such as Beddall Carbon Project 5 also registered nearby.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which credits landholders for sequestering carbon in agricultural soils. To achieve this, the project involves altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote vegetation cover and improve soil health. Additionally, the project utilizes legume species in cropping or pasture systems to fix nitrogen and build soil organic matter. These activities are designed to increase the soil carbon stocks over time compared to a baseline measurement.

The region is situated in the Dawson Valley, an area characterized by beef cattle grazing and dryland cropping. The environment is classified as sub-tropical with a semi-arid influence, typically receiving between 600mm and 700mm of rainfall annually, which is summer-dominant. The soils in this part of the Banana Shire are predominantly Vertosols (cracking clays) and Dermosols, which are fertile but can be prone to erosion if vegetation cover is not maintained, making the project's focus on cover retention particularly beneficial.

Beddall Carbon Project 6 is developed in partnership with Agriprove, a leading Australian soil carbon project developer. Agriprove typically utilizes a deferred payment model where costs for baselining and auditing are covered by future carbon credit generation. The "Beddall" name likely refers to the landholding family or entity, and the sequential numbering (Project 6) suggests a segmented approach to registering different paddocks or land parcels within a larger property aggregation.
