HPUT Carbon Project Schedule 1

Project Information:

HPUT Carbon Project Schedule 1 is a plantation forestry project located in the Southern Midlands region of Tasmania, approximately 60km north-east of Hobart. It was registered in November 2023 and covers 2142.47ha.

Plantation forestry projects involve establishing new plantation forests or converting existing short-rotation plantations into long-rotation forests. The methodology requires that these forests be established and maintained specifically for the commercial harvesting of wood products.

The Southern Midlands and Eastern Tiers areas of Tasmania are known for mixed agricultural operations, primarily including sheep grazing, cropping, and forestry. The area is generally considered to have a moderate rainfall classification, and local soils are characteristically podzolic, consisting of sandy loams and clay that are often derived from underlying dolerite and sandstone bedrock.

This specific project sequesters carbon through two main activities: the establishment of a newly planted commercial forest and the conversion of an existing short-rotation plantation to a long-rotation one. Notably, in May 2025, the project underwent a participant name variation from Eastern Tiers Pty Ltd to The Trustee for Fife AMI 2303 Inglewood Road Trust, and it is managed with the involvement of The Carbon Farming Foundation Ltd.
