Project Information:

Landari Uplands 1 2022 is a plantation forestry project located in the Northern Midlands region of Tasmania, approximately 40 kilometres southeast of Launceston. The project covers a net area of 139.72 hectares and was registered on November 10, 2023. The site is situated near the foothills of the Ben Lomond plateau, an area characterized by a mix of forestry, grazing, and native vegetation.

The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. This specific project focuses on "avoided conversion," a project activity designed to protect existing plantation forests that are at risk of being converted to non-forested land (such as pasture for agriculture). By maintaining the plantation and potentially establishing new rotation cycles, the project generates carbon credits for the stored biomass that would otherwise have been removed.

Environmentally, the region experiences a cool temperate climate. While the Tasmanian Midlands floor is known for being relatively dry, this "Uplands" location further east likely receives moderate to high rainfall (roughly 700mm–900mm annually), supporting productive timber growth. The local soils are typically texture-contrast or gradational types, such as Dermosols or Kurosols, which are common in the Tasmanian forestry landscape. A variation to the project area was recorded in June 2024, indicating adjustments to the specific plantation boundaries.
