Humphreys Carbon Project 1

Project Information:

Humphreys Carbon Project 1 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, approximately 45km northeast of the township of Wongan Hills. Registered in June 2025, the project covers a project area of roughly 404 hectares within the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu.

The surrounding region is heavily utilized for broadacre dryland cropping, primarily wheat and canola, alongside sheep grazing. The environment is characterized by a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 325mm. Soils in this area typically consist of sandy loams, yellow sandplains, and clay loams, which are common to the central Wheatbelt and often benefit from organic amendment.

Operating under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, this project aims to increase soil organic carbon stocks through improved land management. Specifically, the project activities involve the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilisers to address material nutrient deficiencies, thereby boosting plant biomass production and carbon storage in the soil. The project is developed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent soil carbon project developer in Australia.
