Landari Tasmania 2023 - Triangle

Project Information:
Landari Tasmania 2023 - Triangle is a plantation forestry project located in the Central Highlands of Tasmania, approximately 30km northwest of the township of Ouse. Registered in October 2023, the project covers a designated area of 361.40 hectares. The site is situated within a region characterized by a mix of forestry assets and extensive grazing properties, typical of the Derwent Valley's upper reaches.
The project operates under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative-Plantation Forestry) Methodology Determination 2022. Specifically, it falls under the "Avoided Conversion" activity category. This means the project area consists of established plantation land that was at risk of being converted into non-forested land (such as pasture for agriculture) following harvest. Instead of clearing the land for grazing, a common practice in parts of Tasmania to increase agricultural utility, the proponent has committed to re-establishing and maintaining the plantation for another rotation of commercial timber production.
Environmentally, this section of the Central Highlands lies in a rain shadow relative to the wetter west coast, experiencing a cool temperate climate with moderate rainfall. The landscape is often defined by Jurassic dolerite geology, producing fertile but stony clay-loam soils that support both commercial timber and dry sclerophyll forests. The project is managed by Landari Pty Ltd, a specialist carbon developer founded by forestry executives Simon Penfold and Arjan Wilkie, who manage a portfolio of similar plantation assets across Australia.
