Landari Calvert 2022

Project Information:
Landari Calvert 2022 is a plantation forestry project located across the Launceston and Meander Valley regions in northern Tasmania, approximately 20 to 40 kilometres from the city of Launceston. It was registered in March 2024 and covers a total area of 311.20 hectares.
The project operates under the Plantation Forestry methodology, which in this instance involves transitioning an existing short-rotation commercial plantation forest into a permanent planting. This transition ensures the trees remain in the ground indefinitely rather than being clear-felled for timber, capturing and storing carbon over the long term. To be eligible under this methodology, the project must demonstrate that the plantation was at risk of being converted to non-forested land or clear-felled.
The northern Tasmania region, incorporating the Tamar and Meander valleys, is heavily utilised for forestry, cattle grazing, dairy farming, and cropping. The area is classified as having a cool temperate climate with reliable, high rainfall. The soils are typically highly fertile, commonly consisting of rich basalt-derived ferrosols and clay loams, which provide ideal conditions for robust tree growth.
The project is developed and managed by Landari Pty Ltd, a developer specialising in carbon and biodiversity offsets through permanent vegetation. Landari Calvert 2022 operates with a nominated 25-year permanence period and utilises the FullCAM 2016 model to estimate its carbon sequestration. According to public registry data, the project has been highly successful in its initial stages, already being issued over 14,400 Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs).
