RGF Carbon Project

Project Information:
RGF Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Red Gully and Wanerie region, approximately 90km north of Perth and 25km west of Gingin in Western Australia. Registered on April 14, 2023, the project covers a significant area of 1,485 hectares. The proponent, Anthony Leighton Ruse, works in conjunction with Carbon West Pty Ltd to manage the project operations.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards landholders for increasing Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) stocks. The specific activities for this project involve re-establishing or rejuvenating pasture through seeding or pasture cropping. By improving pasture density and root mass, the project aims to draw more carbon from the atmosphere into the soil.
The project is situated within the Shire of Gingin on the Swan Coastal Plain, a region characterized by a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters. The local landscape typically features sandy or loam-over-gravel soils (often associated with Bassendean sands), which are traditionally used for grazing and broadacre cropping. Interestingly, the proponent holds another registered project, the "Red Gully Farm Revegetation Carbon Project," suggesting a holistic approach to carbon farming by combining soil sequestration with native vegetation re-establishment on the same or adjacent properties.
