Sinclair Carbon Project 3

Project Information:
Sinclair Carbon Project 3 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Tatiara District of South Australia, approximately 18km northwest of the regional centre of Bordertown. Registered in July 2024, the project covers 326 hectares of agricultural land. It appears to be part of a larger aggregation of carbon projects (including Sinclair Carbon Projects 4, 5, and 6) likely established on the "Sinclair" property or homestead, which is known to be situated near the Ngarkat Conservation Park and Emu Springs area.
The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards landholders for measurable increases in soil organic carbon (SOC). The Tatiara region, often translated as "Good Country", is a productive mixed farming area characterized by a Mediterranean climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 450mm. The local soil profile typically consists of sandy loams over clay, a structure that can respond well to regenerative management but requires careful handling to build carbon stocks.
To achieve carbon sequestration, the project employs specific land management activities designed to boost soil health and retention. These include the application of synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies, the retention of crop stubble to protect surface soils, and a transition from intensive tillage to reduced or no-tillage practices. These changes are intended to minimize soil disturbance and maximize the return of organic matter to the soil profile. The project is managed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent developer in the Australian soil carbon sector.
