Project Information:

Hasluck Carbon Project 2 is a soil carbon sequestration project located in the Tatiara District of South Australia, approximately 15 kilometers north of Bordertown. Registered in October 2022, the project covers a project area of 315 hectares.

The project operates under the 2021 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards landholders for increasing soil organic carbon levels through changes in land management. Specifically, this project aims to build soil carbon by applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address nutrient deficiencies and retaining crop stubble after harvest. These activities are designed to improve plant growth and return more biomass to the soil, thereby sequestering carbon.

The Tatiara District, often referred to as "Good Country," is a highly productive agricultural region known for mixed farming, including cereal cropping and livestock grazing. The area typically experiences a Mediterranean climate with medium rainfall (approximately 450-500mm annually), supporting reliable winter crops. The soils in this region are generally fertile, ranging from clay loams to sandy loams over clay, which are well-suited for the project's focus on cropping and pasture improvement.
