Okeview Carbon Project

Okeview Carbon Project is a Soil Organic Carbon Sequestration project located on Eringoarrah Station, approximately 25km east of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of Southern NSW. It was registered on April 12, 2024, and originally covered a project area of 7,644.50 hectares.

Soil carbon projects under this methodology involve estimating changes in soil carbon storage using a combination of direct measurement and modeling. The project aims to increase carbon in the soil within the agricultural system by strategically altering the stocking rate, duration, or intensity of grazing to promote soil vegetation cover and improve overall soil health.

The Wagga Wagga area is traditionally known for mixed farming, cropping, and grazing operations. The region typically experiences a temperate climate with moderate rainfall, and the local soils generally consist of red-brown earths, clays, and sandy loams. Eringoarrah Station recently transitioned from a mixed-farming enterprise to a dedicated grazing operation.

The property is owned by Eringoarrah Pty Ltd and leased to the project proponent, Okeview Farm Operations Pty Ltd, which manages a herd of 2,000 Hereford breeding cows on the land. In November 2024, the project underwent a variation where some previously listed areas were removed from the total project boundary.
