Native woodland regeneration project BRO21
ERF166012
Project Information:
Native woodland regeneration project BRO21 is a Human-Induced Regeneration (HIR) project located in the Quilpie Shire of Queensland, approximately 120km northwest of Charleville and 125km west of Augathella. The project was registered in August 2021 and covers an area of 19,184.91 hectares.
The region is historically characterized by sheep and cattle grazing operations. The environmental conditions are semi-arid, featuring Mulga (Acacia aneura) vegetation and soils that are predominantly red earth (Kandosols) or sandy loams, which are typical of the Mulga Lands bioregion.
The project operates under the Human-Induced Regeneration methodology, which involves regenerating permanent native forest by suppressing activities that previously prevented growth. Specifically, this project mandates the cessation of mechanical or chemical clearing and the active management of grazing timing and extent to allow native vegetation to recover from in-situ seed sources like rootstock and lignotubers.
Carbon Regeneration No.1 Pty Ltd acts as the proponent, with Tasman Environmental Markets Australia Pty Ltd listed as a participant. The project holds an active Optional Delivery contract (CAC576312) with the Commonwealth, committed to delivering abatement verified over a 10-year period.
