Rosedale Carbon Project

Project Information:
The Rosedale Carbon Project is a soil carbon sequestration initiative located near the town of Yelarbon, approximately 35 kilometres east of Goondiwindi in the Southern Downs region of Queensland. Registered in February 2021, the project originally covered an area of roughly 460 hectares, though a variation in March 2025 adjusted the project area by removing certain land parcels. The project is situated in a region defined by the Macintyre River catchment, bordering New South Wales.
This project operates under the 2018 Soil Carbon methodology, which rewards farmers for increasing the amount of organic carbon stored in their soils. To achieve this, the project activities specifically focus on applying synthetic or non-synthetic fertilizers to address material nutrient deficiencies in the soil. By optimizing soil nutrition, the project aims to boost plant growth and root biomass, which in turn sequesters atmospheric carbon into the soil profile.
The Goondiwindi and Yelarbon region is a significant agricultural hub, primarily utilized for grazing and dryland cropping. The environment is characterized by a sub-humid to semi-arid climate with an average annual rainfall of approximately 600mm. The soils in this specific locality are often complex, ranging from cracking clays (Vertosols) to difficult sodic soils (Sodosols), which can benefit significantly from the targeted nutrient management and rehabilitation strategies employed by this project. The project is developed by Agriprove Solutions, a prominent soil carbon project developer in Australia.
