Glenmore Soil Carbon Project (Revoked)

Project Information:
The Glenmore Soil Carbon Project (Revoked) was a soil carbon sequestration initiative located approximately 40km north-east of Inverell in the Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales. Registered in December 2020, the project covered a significant agricultural area of 1,373 hectares. While active, the project was managed by the Bragg Family Trust with participation from Carbon Farmers of Australia No. 1 Limited. However, the project was voluntarily revoked in October 2025 under Section 30 of the CFI Rule, indicating that the proponents chose to withdraw the project, likely before any Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) were issued.
The project operated under the Measurement of Soil Carbon Sequestration in Agricultural Systems methodology (2018). This method requires landholders to implement new management activities designed to increase soil organic carbon levels, which are then verified through physical soil sampling and laboratory analysis. Specific activities for this project included re-establishing or rejuvenating pastures through seeding and altering stocking rates, duration, or intensity to improve ground cover and soil health.
The Inverell region is characterized by a mixed farming landscape, predominantly supporting sheep and cattle grazing as well as dryland cropping. The area experiences a warm temperate climate with summer-dominant rainfall, averaging around 700mm annually. The soils in this part of the North West Slopes are typically fertile, consisting of black Vertosols (cracking clays) and Chromosols, which are well-suited to pasture improvement but require careful management to maintain carbon stores during drier periods.
