O'Connor Carbon Project (Revoked)

Project Information:
O'Connor Carbon Project (Revoked) was a soil carbon sequestration project located near Elizabeth Town, approximately 10km northwest of Deloraine in northern Tasmania. Registered in February 2020, the project covered an area of 174.71 hectares within the Meander Valley region. The project was developed by Agriprove Solutions but was revoked in September 2025 under section 30 of the CFI Rule, which typically indicates a voluntary revocation by the proponent.
The project operated under the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative, Measurement of Soil Carbon Sequestration in Agricultural Systems) Methodology Determination 2018. This methodology credits increases in soil organic carbon (SOC) achieved through changes in land management. Specific activities for this project involved re-establishing or rejuvenating pasture by seeding, designed to improve soil health and sequester carbon in the soil profile. To earn credits, proponents must conduct baseline soil sampling and subsequent rounds of testing to demonstrate a measurable increase in carbon stocks relative to the baseline.
The Meander Valley region is a highly productive agricultural area characterized by a cool temperate climate. The area typically receives high and reliable annual rainfall, ranging between 800mm and 1000mm, supporting intensive grazing and cropping. The local soil landscape often features fertile Red Ferrosols (basalt soils) and clay loams, which are well-suited for high-density pasture and dairy operations common in the district.
