Project Information:

Hillview Carbon Sequestration by Revegetation (Revoked) is an environmental planting project located approximately 18km north of Bathurst in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales. It was registered in December 2018 and covers a project area of 16.27 hectares.

Environmental planting projects involve establishing permanent plantings of native tree or mallee species to restore forest cover. Under the Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings (FullCAM) Methodology Determination 2014, these sites are typically required to be planted in distinct blocks with an initial stocking density (often at least 200 stems per hectare) designed to eventually achieve forest cover, defined as a canopy cover of at least 20% and trees reaching at least 2 metres in height.

The Bathurst region is well known for mixed agricultural land uses, predominantly focusing on sheep and cattle grazing alongside some cropping. Situated in the Central Tablelands, the local environment generally experiences a temperate climate with moderate rainfall. The soils are typically a combination of granitic, clay, and loamy profiles, which effectively support the establishment of endemic native flora.

This project was managed by Greenfleet Australia as Trustee for the Greenfleet Trust. The specific activities involved establishing permanent, mixed-species environmental plantings utilizing trees that are native to the local area. These plantings were established on land that had been primarily utilized for agricultural purposes for at least five years prior to the project's commencement. On December 18, 2024, the project was officially revoked under section 30 of the CFI Rule.
